Celebrating Excellence in Structural Dynamics: Elina Elvelo Recognized at the 2026 BCA Meeting

Structural Dynamics is delighted to recognize Elina Elvelo as the recipient of the Judith Flippen-Anderson Memorial Structural Dynamics Poster Prize at the 2026 British Crystallographic Association (BCA) Meeting.

Elina, based in the Department of Chemistry at Stockholm University and also affiliated with the Department of Materials at Imperial College London, was recognized for her poster titled “Pressure response in Prussian White: Multi-dimensional phase diagram of important cathode material.”

Her work explores the structural behavior of Prussian White under varying pressure and temperature conditions, providing new insight into its phase transitions and stability. As a promising cathode material for next-generation sodium-ion batteries, understanding these structural dynamics is critical for advancing more sustainable energy storage technologies. Through a combination of high-pressure diffraction techniques and careful phase analysis, Elina’s research highlights the complex and rich behavior of this material under extreme conditions.

The Judith Flippen-Anderson Memorial Structural Dynamics Poster Prize is awarded in memory of Judith Flippen-Anderson, a Past President of the American Crystallographic Association and a key figure in the establishment of Structural Dynamics. The award recognizes outstanding contributions from students and early-career researchers whose work reflects innovation and excellence in structural science.
