ACA MicroED Chat: MicroED for Beginners: What Lies Ahead?
Tuesday, June 16, 2026, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EDT
Category: SIG Events

The ACA MicroED Special Interest Group invites you to join an interactive Teams discussion focused on the practical realities of implementing and using MicroED (Microcrystal Electron Diffraction). As interest in MicroED continues to grow and the technique becomes an increasingly valuable tool for structural science, many researchers and facilities are exploring how to successfully establish and utilize MicroED capabilities.

This discussion will bring together experienced users and facility leaders to share insights, lessons learned, and best practices for both new users and facilities considering adopting MicroED. Topics will include learning pathways for beginners, common misconceptions, sample preparation challenges, workflow development, quality control, facility setup considerations, detector and microscope requirements, training strategies, and recommendations for making MicroED accessible to non-expert users.

Whether you are considering your first MicroED project, looking to expand your facility's capabilities, or seeking to learn from the experiences of established practitioners, this session will provide an opportunity to ask questions, share perspectives, and engage with the growing MicroED community.

We encourage all interested ACA members and colleagues to join the conversation!
