ACA SIG Officer Candidate 2021: Krystle McLaughlin

I am excited for the opportunity to serve as the BioMac Chair Elect. Since attending my first ACA meeting as a graduate student, I have been pleased to be a part of such a vibrant community of scholars. My research interests in microbial protein crystallography has made the BioMAc SIG a wonderful professional home. I believe it is an exciting time for the BioMac SIG as our synergistic interests with other SIGs, including the Cryo-EM SIG, is expanding. I would embrace the opportunity to continue moving our SIG forward, as we continue to bridge partnerships that enrich the science and community for us all in the ACA. For the last several years I have been a part of the ACA Communications Committee (2017-2021) and represented us for 3 terms on the AIP Committee Liaison Committee on Underrepresented Minorities (LCURM) (2013-2021), having served as chair of both. Additionally, I have been the secretary of the BioMac SIG (2015-2018). With these experiences, I believe I would be an effective BioMac SIG chair elect and I am honored to be considered for this opportunity.
