Supporting Scientific ExchangeThe American Crystallographic Association supports scientific meetings that advance crystallography, foster collaboration, and strengthen the structural science community. Through sponsorship and partnership, the ACA helps enable conferences, workshops, schools, and symposia that provide opportunities for knowledge exchange, professional development, and community building. The meetings featured on this page reflect the breadth of the ACA’s engagement—from events that serve the full structural science community to those focused on specific techniques or audiences—and underscore the Association’s commitment to supporting member-driven initiatives that expand access to high-quality scientific programming.
Caribbean Crystallography SchoolIn 2025, the American Crystallographic Association provided financial support for the Caribbean Crystallography School, helping to expand access to hands-on crystallography training and mentorship for students and early-career scientists in the region. This sponsorship reflects the ACA’s commitment to inclusive education, international collaboration, and strengthening the global structural science community.
Pacific Northwest Summer Crystallography Institute 2025 (PNW SCI)In 2025, the American Crystallographic Association provided financial support for the Pacific Northwest Summer Crystallography Institute (PNW SCI), hosted at Whitworth University. The four-day institute trained undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, and faculty in small-molecule X-ray diffraction through a combination of lectures and hands-on instruction, many of whom entered with limited prior experience. ACA support helped make the program accessible and contributed to building research and teaching capacity in the structural sciences, particularly at primarily undergraduate and research-intensive institutions.
