Statement
I was pleased to be approached by the nominating committee to stand for Chair of the Small Molecule SIG for 2023. It seems impossible that I first chaired a Small Molecule SIG meeting almost 20 years ago, but if that is the case, I'm long overdue to help out again. I look forward to the next few years that will (hopefully) see a return to normal in-person meetings, however time has not stood still and innovations in small molecule science have continued in spite of the restrictions the pandemic has forced on us. New techniques in small molecule crystallography have emerged, and the reach of small molecule science continues to grow. The Small Molecule SIG should continue to organize sessions that are engaging to the community, with the chair's main role to compile and organize a strong roster of the member's session choices, and advocate for those choices at the final planning meeting. I will do my best to fill this role.
