ACA SIG Officer Candidate 2021: Wenqian Xu

I am a staff scientist at the Advanced Photon Source at the Argonne National Laboratory, operating a powder diffraction beamline. I received my PhD in Geosciences in 2011 from Stony Brook University, where I developed my crystallography and diffraction skills. Before taking the current post in 2014, I was at a postdoc researcher at Brookhaven National Lab where my research was using synchrotron diffraction and spectroscopy techniques to investigate catalysis problems. The advance of big data analytics and artificial intelligence is making great impact on every science field, including our powder community.  If elected at the chair, I will bring the focus to state-of-the-art data analysis methods as well as instrumentation and novel applications of powder diffraction.
