A four-day (July 12-15, 2023) Pacific Northwest Summer Crystallographic Institute (SCI23) has been established to instruct up to 25 students and their faculty research mentors in the methods and rewards of single-crystal X-ray crystallography as a tool for routine characterization.  While other workshops and academic courses focus on training crystallographers, this Institute is unique in having as its target audience junior scholars and faculty who wish to become better-informed consumers of crystallographic data.  SCI23 participants will be exposed to formal and hands-on training in the practical aspects of crystallography with emphasis placed on increasing research and teaching capacity at home institutions.  Additional information can be found at https://www.whitworth.edu/cms/news-and-events/pacific-northwest-summer-crystallographic-institute/
