The Meeting Committee plays an important role in bringing the ACA’s Annual Meeting to life—from shaping the scientific program to helping choose where future meetings will be held. Established in 2018, the committee works with SIG chairs to gather and organize session proposals, build the schedule, and coordinate special lectures, ceremonies, and other events that make the meeting such a highlight for our community each year.

In addition to planning, the committee helps identify and review potential meeting sites, working with ACA staff to make recommendations to Council. Members also suggest meeting themes and explore new ideas to make each gathering even more engaging and memorable. The committee meets at least once a year, and the chair provides a written report to Council during the Annual Meeting.

As a member of the ACA Meeting Committee, she would like to support the training of the next generation of structural biologists by incorporating into each annual meeting a workshop on the fundamentals of X-ray crystallography and electron microscopy. The topics would progress from year to year in a sequence similar to the CCP4 annual weekends, for example with one year focusing on basics (e.g., symmetry and Fourier Transform), the next on data acquisition, then on data analysis, and so forth, so that graduate students can experience the entire workflow during their training, while experienced researchers can stay updated on advances in each area.

I would be honored to serve on the ACA Meeting Committee and contribute to shaping a dynamic and impactful Annual Meeting. My background in running multidisciplinary teams at Helix Biostructures has given me extensive experience in coordinating complex projects, balancing priorities, and ensuring smooth communication across diverse groups. I value efficiency and responsiveness, and enjoy bringing structure to collaborative planning while leaving room for creativity. I am particularly interested in supporting sessions that highlight the integration of crystallography and cryo-EM, as well as fostering opportunities for trainees and early-career scientists. With a strong commitment to both rigor and inclusivity, I would work to ensure that the Annual Meeting continues to reflect the excellence and collegial spirit of the ACA community.
