I am an instrument scientist on the powder diffraction beamline HB2A at Oak Ridge National Laboratory since January 2024. I am excited to run for Chair-Elect of the Neutron Scattering SIG because I believe in the power of community to drive both scientific discovery and professional growth. My research focuses on using neutron scattering to explore complex magnetic materials, and I am continually inspired by the creativity and collaboration that define our field. Supporting visiting scientists and developing new partnerships have shown me how essential our networks are for advancing both science and professional growth. I am especially passionate about supporting early-career scientists and helping address the “leaky pipeline.” This summer, I organized the Quantum Materials Young Investigator Workshop, which brought together young principal investigators and ORNL’s neutron scattering staff. Watching those new collaborations take shape reminded me how important it is to create spaces where emerging scientists feel welcomed, supported, and heard. If elected Chair-Elect, my priorities will be to continue engagement within the SIG and to continue building an inclusive, connected community. I will work to increase visibility for neutron scattering research within the broader ACA community by helping organize engaging, high-quality sessions at the annual meeting. I also hope to create more opportunities for dialogue and mentorship across career stages and institutions—linking academic, national lab, and industry researchers who share an interest in advancing neutron-based science. The Neutron Scattering SIG plays a vital role in fostering collaboration and scientific exchange within the ACA. If elected as Chair-Elect, I hope to build on that foundation—supporting the next generation of researchers while celebrating the achievements of all who contribute to our field. I am excited about the opportunity to serve and help our community continue to thrive.
